Jon Whitlock - Division Chief
Division Chief Jonathan Whitlock began his public safety career in 2004 after prior experience in the life safety industry, where he worked in the installation of fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. Throughout his fire service career, he has served in a variety of operational, technical, and leadership capacities, building a broad background in emergency response, organizational development, and special operations.
Division Chief Whitlock became a licensed paramedic in 2013 and has continued to expand his professional qualifications in specialized emergency response and leadership. His credentials include hazardous materials technician, fire inspector, fire instructor, fire investigator, live fire instructor, strike team/task force leader, CPR/ALS instructor, and member of Florida USAR Task Force 6. His professional focus has consistently emphasized operational readiness, specialized capability, and service excellence.
In addition to his field and leadership responsibilities, Division Chief Whitlock has contributed to workforce development through instructional roles at Braxton College Fire School and as an instructor in the paramedic program at Florida SouthWestern State College, supporting the education and preparation of future fire and EMS professionals. He has also served as a member of the Lee County Arson Task Force since 2010, conducting fire origin and cause investigations throughout Lee County.
Committed to continuous professional growth, Division Chief Whitlock earned a master’s degree in philosophy in 2025, strengthening his foundation in leadership, ethics, and strategic decision-making. As Division Chief of EMS, he remains dedicated to advancing clinical performance, strengthening operational effectiveness, and ensuring high-quality emergency medical services for the community.
