As always, all residents and visitors need to stay vigilant and be responsible for your own residence. Loose yard trimmings, pool accessories, grills, anything you believe can be lifted or moved with winds: secure them one way or another. We will have some gusts, likely standing water, and sustained winds with this storm.
|
Carts should avoid water - the two do not mix well. Chargers for carts should be unplugged and elevated to not get wet. Our island has seen its fair share of fires due to carts being left on chargers.

As general information, for any future storms: if there is an evacuation order issued, the fire district employees will be included in those evacuation orders; we will not man the station. Though we WILL return as soon as the all clear is given through internal communications and it’s deemed safe to return. This is important information, as we are absolutely no good to anyone if we stay on island and our personnel succumbs to the storm. Just like all of you who are important to me, the safety and readiness of our team is also important. Keep in mind for future storms, it is always advisable to leave when so ordered.
