The roads are continuing to improve thanks to the diligent efforts of the Fire District. After the original successful project to rework a significant section of the main road from Safety Harbor to the airstrip, there was an additional project completed with leftover material from that project to rework Seair drive which greatly improved the quality of that section of road. However, much to the dismay of those residents on the north side of the runway, the road there had deteriorated significantly and was pothole filled making travel on that side very slow, cart jarring, and, at times, impassible due to standing water.
Recently, the equipment and resources were deployed again and a reshaping of North Airstrip road was completed which smoothed out the roller coaster ride. The work also created a tilt to the roadbed that will allow water to run off to the channel created along the fence instead of puddling up in the middle of the road. Safe travel is now available from one end of the island to another. Now comes the real test which is to maintain this condition.
Thank YOU! The roads are looking great and feel much more safe for our residents, visitors and our firefighters who would need to access these homes. As a resident on the north end, I say a huge Thank You!
