The Upper Captiva Fire Protection and Rescue Service District is raising funds to purchase a Kubota tractor dedicated to road and pathway maintenance across Upper Captiva.
Why This Is Important
Our island’s roads and pathways are essential for:
- Emergency vehicle access
- Resident and visitor safety
- Daily transportation
They are also vital for smooth passage on golf carts, the primary mode of transportation on Upper Captiva. Regular grading means fewer bumps, less wear on carts, and a safer, more comfortable ride for everyone.
Jeff Rawlings regularly grades our pathways at least twice per week, helping keep our roads passable. Unfortunately, our existing tractor was severely damaged by flooding during Hurricanes Helene and Milton and is no longer reliable.
Our Goal
- Kubota tractor purchase price: $56,000
- Designed for consistent, long-term island road maintenance
- Supports emergency response and smoother, less bumpy travel
