Fire & Rescue Equipment
The Fire District continues to focus on acquiring and maintaining an array of equipment that provides maximum protection to Island property owners, residents, and visitors. These tools, combined with diligent training activities, are a key to provision of first class fire, ems, and marine response service to our community. Each piece of major equipment is described below with a quick summary of the capabilities that each provide.

Fire Engine 191 is our newest equipment, purchased and customized specifically for our island environment and needs. This engine is designed to be the “heavy gun” in fighting fires, while is smaller size allows more effective navigation on the island pathways.

Fire Engine 192, which came to use from South Trail Fire Department in Ft. Myers, is an equal to Engine 191 in pumping power and capacity providing a one-two-punch in fighting fires on the island. While Engine 192 is slightly smaller and lighter, it still packs the same punch as Engine 191.

This truck will access any point on the island, including the state park property and our community members on the south banks, bringing a capable firefighting package along with it. It provides the department with a high water response solution to conduct evacuation or recovery operations. The configuration of the truck will allow for the firefighting unit to be switched to any future 5 ton government vehicle.

The Ambulance marks a huge improvement in the district’s ability to treat, protect, and provide secure medical care for our patients prior to transport to an appropriate ER. The community investment, in partnership with the Friends of the Fire Department made this leap in care a reality. The unit also provides shelter and rehabilitation services for families and firefighters in case of a house fire.
