Commissioner Rosen
Duncan was appointed to the Board in January 2021. Duncan is a full-time island resident and business owner on North Captiva. After graduating Babson College, in Boston, MA, with a Bachelors degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting, Duncan obtained his masters in accounting. Fresh out of college, Duncan entered the workforce as an analyst on the long/short equity fund at a boutique hedge fund in Miami. Duncan climbed the corporate ladder and worked on various private equity deals across the world, working in Ghana, China, parts of Latin America and Southeast Asia. Ultimately, Duncan realized that he didn’t want to wear a suit and sit behind a computer screen for the rest of his adult life. While in his island home on North Captiva, and in search for his next career path, Duncan stumbled upon Property Management and Property Services on the island. Since 2014, Duncan has been running Tortuga Properties, and it’s affiliated businesses.
Amidst a push for increased transparency, local business knowledge, and sense of involvement in the community, Duncan was appointed to the Upper Captiva Fire Rescue and Service District, a position that he is honored to have. For any concerns pertaining to the fire department please don’t hesitate to send an email to Duncan (see below).
Duncan enjoys spending time offshore fishing, boating to nearby islands, and traveling to off-the-beaten-path destinations across the world when he’s not working on the island.
