February 2019 Update

Everyone,

I’ve noticed that our community has been a hive of activity, fun, and excitement within the past few weeks. I’m so happy to be able to share our paradise with everyone, we are all truly blessed.

Just a few notes I’d like to share with our residents, business partners, and our guests.

Please be aware that there is no open burning allowed on the island. Fire danger continues to grow day by day. The best defense against a fire threat is to not put us in a situation where fire suppression or code enforcement is necessary. Help me protect our beautiful community.

Please use the 911 system for all emergency communications. This allows the ENTIRE emergency system to function as it should in handling your emergency.  I’m proud to say that the emergency system has grown and improved to involve better GPS locating for us to find you, as well as notifying all agencies that will be available to assist you in your time of need. (Agencies that are VERY helpful that you may not even think of at the time you call.)

We have answered 13 calls for service at the time of this writing. Again, we thank you for your support in allowing us to serve everyone in times of need.

GRANT AWARD!   We recently applied for, and was awarded a 50/50 match grant to fund self-contained breathing apparatus, (SCBA) and wildland protective equipment. This program, sponsored by our Workers’ Comp carrier, ensures that our staff is equipped with proper safety equipment and gear that is needed to operate to our industry standard and continue our professional delivery of service. A special thank you to Preferred Government Trust for their generosity and support.

Yours In Safety,

Chief Jason Martin, NREMTP

Terrific! This mode of communication should be a real boon.
