The 6^th Annual Island Fun-Run is in the BOOKS!  On Saturday, December 28^th, 2018, islanders and visitors joined together to run/walk our beautiful island, 5-K style.  The weather was beautiful and sunny for the 9 a.m. race start with temps warming to around 80 degrees.  You can see a video by clicking here.

Fire Commissioner Tom Jenkins started the race with approximately 300 participants of all ages and fitness levels.  The common thread was the sense of community and fun as everyone gathered to support our Island’s Fire District.  Tom has been organizing the Fun Run for the past 6 years to raise funds to be used by the Fire District to keep our Island safe and provide emergency services for residents and visitors, alike.

This year’s t-shirt was a light blue and contained the names of the supporting businesses and families.  The runners wore their shirts with pride as they ran the island paths and finished strong.  As a community we raised almost $10,000 to be used locally to maintain our special slice of heaven.  Many thanks to all the business sponsors, donor families, runners and supporters.  Our people are what sets North Captiva Island apart from other vacation destinations.
